Storyboarding Advert Ideas
Today in Media our group each drew our own storyboards for our energy drink advert. I chose a football theme, Dan went with zombies and Lewis decided to go with a story type advert. Eventually, our group chose to go with Dan's zombie advert. We are currently choosing a cast for our advert before we start filming next week!

Advertising Our Energy Drink
Today in class we completed three print adverts to advertise our new energy drink. Lewis did an advert for a website, Daniel completed an advert for a magazine and I did an advert for a bus or a train. We each used different colours for our adverts to suit where the advert would be placed. We also needed to make our adverts as interesting and eye-catching as possible.

Energy Drink Bottle Designs
Today in our Media lesson we finalised our individual bottle designs for our new energy drink. Again, Daniel got the most votes therefore his design won. Both Daniel and Lewis chose the colour scheme of blue and yellow whereas I chose to go with black and lime green as I felt that this was more eye-catching and more suited to our product. Understandably, I was disappointed to lose as I felt for once I had a chance of winning something against the others.

Young Apprentice
Today in class we watched an episode of The Young Apprentice. We all felt this was good to watch as it helped us work better as a team. On The Young Apprentice, they needed to design a product which would be suitable for Mother and Baby Care. Overall we thought that the teams did not work well together as both teams were always arguing and not co-operating. The products they designed were mainly based on existing products such as the girls' product was basically a scarf. This is why our class thought that their products were not very good. The girls' pitch went badly as the company they were pitching to did not know what the product would be used for. I think that Sir Alan Sugar was right to fire Ben as he did not do anything to help his team therefore leaving him to be the main reason for their loss.

Analysing Advertisements 2
Today in class we analysed another advert in more detail than the previous adverts we analysed. This time we analysed one of many Honda adverts called Hondamentallysm. We looked at the Advert Details (what happens), Music and Sound FX, the text in the advert, the pace (Editing Style) and the message of the advert. We found that Honda adverts are very clever and intriguing as they draw the audience in. The Hondamentallysm advert starts off with a quote of 'An engineer once said, to build something great is like swimming in honey'. This quote helps to draw the audience in and also tells us a little about what the advertisement is going to be about. Usually, Honda adverts have more to them then first meets the eye.
Today our class were shown a series of logo's from different companies and we were then told to see if we could recognise them. This will help us for when we design our own logo as we could see the story behind companies logo's and how much effort goes into designing good, quality logo's.

Analysing Advertisements
Today in class we analysed 4 adverts. These were Winston Cigarettes from 1960, Coca Cola from 1971, Centrum Performance from 2002 and Apple Mac from 2006. To analyse these adverts we wrote down what we could see in the advert. This was followed by the Sound FX, the text used and the message they are trying to portray and get across. We then compared the adverts and saw that most of them use false advertising to promote their products. This was used in the Winston Cigarettes, Coca Cola and Centrum Performance adverts to make it look as though their products are good for us when indeed we know that they are not. Our class then discussed how companies use advertising to sell their products nowadays and we found that many use humour or a recognisable character such as the 'opera singer' from the Go Compare adverts to draw the audience in and eventually buy the product if it is well advertised.

Team Meeting
Today we had a team meeting to decide on our team name and slogan for our Advertising Company. The people in my team are Lewis and Dan and Dan came up with the name of 'Electro Advertising' accompanied with the slogan of 'Here to shock your mind' which we all agreed on. We decided on this name and slogan because tey were catchy and caught people's attention.
